All through this March, aka women’s history month, I have tried to honor women in tech via #AppyWeek with AK. And covering an app founded by women for women seems to be the perfect climax for the series. So without further ado, let’s understand what Sheroes is, how it works, and most importantly, is it worth your attention?
Sheroes review: The largest women-only app
She-Heroes is the most extensive social networking and personal app for women. Like Facebook, the platform allows users to share their thoughts, ideas, and work, via posts, videos, and polls. You can like, repost, comment, bookmark, and share the post via WhatsApp or other social media platforms. The basic idea is that users (predominantly women) interact and offer each other support, resources, and opportunities. You can access the platform via Sheroes’ website or the iOS app.

Hailing from a small town in Uttar Pradesh, India, Sairee Chahal has been observing gender disparity unanimously across the spectrum. So, she decided to step up and bridge the gap. She started building Sheroes from the ground up as a career-centric community for women. By 2019, the platform boasted over 16 Million women on its network.
A troll-free, supportive platform to express yourself
It’s amazing to read about the growth of Sheroes. What started as a career-centric social media now doubles as a creative let-out, financial aid, mental health expert, career counselor, beauty expert, and more.
Meet people with a shared interest
The app currently boasts 1000+ communities that discuss, debate, and preach about all sorts of topics from women in business, health, family, art & craft, travel to music & dance, cooking, memes, and beyond. When you make a post, you can choose a community to ensure that the right audience is reached. Vice-versa, each community, boasts its feed, so you can access precisely the content you need. Did Sheroes make AK appy?
I am truly confused! On the one hand, I like how the app is built. It is super simple to use and can be a great companion for any woman. There is also a plan for Sheroes money in the pipeline, which will make it even better for women entrepreneurs. However, there is definitely a lack of pep in the app; the content did not feel fresh or original. I spent a whole week on the app, and only a handful of posts managed to grab my attention. The developers surely need to revisit the app and revive it with some zing. Overall, the app is great for woman-to-woman connection. If you are looking for some supportive friends, do try this app for sure.
